FCPD provided information about the new police cruisers during the recent CAC meeting at Franconia District Police Station.
Fairfax County police officers are saying farewell to their old cruisers as the department purchases 127 Ford Police Interceptor sedans and utility vehicles in FY2013. Retired Lieutenant Chalrie Bond — who is now the director of the logistics and property division for the department — conducted a presentation during Wednesday night's Citizen Advisory Committee meeting. Bond said Ford Motor Vehicles recently discontinued the Crown Victoria Police Interceptors. The 2007 model was the last of its kind. FCPD has 1,500 vehicles — 762 which are assigned to eight stations, and Franconia District Police Station has 109 of those vehicles alone, Bond said. A man brandishing a handgun demanded cash and fled on foot.
A 27-year-old woman was robbed by a masked, armed man inside the entryway of a local bank Tuesday evening, according to Fairfax County Police Department officials. The woman was withdrawing money from a bank in the 8300 block of Greensboro Drive in Tysons shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday "when a man entered, brandished a handgun and demanded cash," according to a report from police. "The victim complied. The suspect took the cash and fled on foot toward International Drive." Drop off your expired, used, or unwanted prescription drugs in McLean.
Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, and several Fairfax County locations will serve as drop-off points. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at several locations, including the McLean District Police Station at 1437 Balls Hill Road. The event is meant to help residents dispose of potentially dangerous expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs, according to the DEA. Since 2010, law enforcement officials and the DEA have taken in more than 2 million pounds of expired prescription drugs, according to a press release from the administration.

The boy was found in a hotel in Las Vegas with his mother, who has been arrested and is being held as a fugitive from justice.
Fairfax County Police announced Wednesday that Cameron Serafin, the Fairfax County boy who has been missing since April 7, has been found safe and his mother Rebecca has been arrested. Investigators had been looking for Rebecca Serafin and her 5-year-old son since she did not return the boy to his father's home in Great Falls as scheduled. “Following information they developed after viewing the video, LVPD [Las Vegas Police Department] detectives located Cameron and Rebecca Serafin at another hotel close by,” according to the Fairfax County Police Department release. “Cameron is safe and in good condition. FCPS says Rebecca Serafin may be heading to Los Angeles.
Fairfax County Police say that Cameron Serafin, the Fairfax County boy who has been missing since April 7, has been seen with his mother in Las Vegas. Investigators have been looking for the mother and her 5-year-old son since Rebecca Serafin did not return the boy to his father's home in Great Falls as scheduled. Detectives say Rebecca and Cameron Serafin were seen in the baggage claim area at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday, April 11, around 10 p.m., after arriving on a Southwest Airlines flight from Birmingham, Ala.
