This Weekend in Tyson's: Home Tour, Celebrate Italy

Make your plans in and around Tyson's this weekend.

Fall is in the air this weekend as temperatures drop slightly on Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures in the 70s during the day and lows in the 40s at night, according to the National Weather Service. Expect sunny skies.

Tour Vienna homes as part of the Sustainability Home and Garden Tour on Saturday. You can see 15 homes and businesses that have taken a creative approach to making their property eco-friendly. The tour is from noon to 4 p.m. Read more about it on Vienna Patch.

Celebrate Italy this weekend at the Tyson’s-Pimmit Regional library. Sample some Italian food and enjoy family-friendly activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the library on 7584 Leesburg Pike.

It’s a special trip back in time with the Colonial Market and Fair at Mount Vernon on Saturday and Sunday. “General Washington” will be overseeing Revolutionary War drills. The event includes artisans demonstrating their crafts and selling a variety of goods. Potomac River sightseeing cruises also will be available for free. Entertainment will include music, sword-swallowing, fire-eating and more. The event is included in Mount Vernon admission: $17 for adults; $8 for children ages 6-11; and free for ages 5 and under. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway.

The Workhouse Arts Center hosts its 2nd Saturday Art Walk this weekend. See work from more than 100 artists, with music and light refreshments provided. Nonperishable food will be collected for the Lorton Community Action Center. Free. 6-9 p.m. Saturday at 9601 Ox Road, Lorton.

Tigerlilly Foundation hosts its Pink Boa 5K Run/Walk on Sunday. Proceeds support the organization’s work with young women before, during and after their battle with breast cancer. The event includes a fast, flat 5K course beginning in Fairfax Station, along with music, zumba, yoga, family friendly activities and more. $20-$35. Race begins at 8 a.m. Sunday. 11901 Grand Commons Avenue, Fairfax.

The Leesburg Fine Arts Festival returns this weekend. Historic Downtown Leesburg and Friends of Leesburg Public Arts will transform a busy intersection into an “outdoor gallery” of paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed-media and more. Artists will be on hand. Free. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. At King and Market streets, Leesburg.

Jammin Java is hosting two acts this weekend for your musical enjoyment. Friday night, its An Evening with Charlie Hunter & Scott Amendola Duo. Street Corner Symphony will take the stage for two shows Saturday night. Prices and times vary. 227 Maple Ave. E, Vienna.
