Ride Tysons Express Buses Free Monday

Three Northern Virginia express bus routes recently recorded their millionth passenger, and to celebrate, the Virginia Department of Transportation is offering free bus rides on Monday to commemorate the milestone.

Passengers on the Tysons Express buses from Prince William and Loudoun counties and Fairfax County’s Connector Route 555 from Reston to the West Falls Church Metro Station will enjoy free rides on Monday.

Monday is also Earth Day, and the bus rides are a way to promote more sustainable transportation.

The Woodbridge and Loudoun Tysons Express buses, which began in 2009, pick up passengers at park-and-ride locations.

Commuters can take the Woodbridge bus from the Woodbridge VRE station between 6:10 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. and at the I-95/Route 123 Commuter Lot between 6:20 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.

Evening pickups are made between 4 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. at 16 stops in Tysons, including major employers.

The Loudoun buses pick commuters up from park-and-rides in Harmony, Leesburg, Broadlands South and Goose Creek Village for morning and afternoon rides. Click here for more information.

The county’s department of transportation will continue a series of meetings this week on new bus service to Silver Line stations expected to open at the end of 2013.
