Shake Shack to Open in Tyson's Corner

Shake Shack is coming to Tyson’s Corner in mid-2014.

The gourmet burger joint plans to open next to the Tyson’s Corner Mall, according to a press release from Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, the restaurant’s umbrella organization.

“Tyson’s Corner takes us beyond DC to an ever-expanding, thriving community in Northern Virginia, where we can build a Shack from the ground up." Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO, said in the prepared statement.

Shake Shack is also known for hot dogs, frozen custard, and craft beer and wine. Michelle Obama is even known to be a fan: she visited the restaurant in 2011 (a visit that prompted some controversy).

The restaurant, which currently has three D.C. locations, also plans to open a new spot at Union Station.
