New Conference Center Set to Open in Tysons

Written by Karen Graham

Convene has announced that it is opening a new conference facility at 1800 Tysons Boulevard in the Corporate Office Center at Tysons II.  It is set to open in December 2013.

This 15,000 square feet of space was formerly Monterrey Fish Grotto restaurant and will be transformed to offer a variety of meeting rooms to host conferences, training programs and events.

“A convention facility in Tysons Corner would enhance business travel to the area and support local amenities, the airport and small businesses,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. “Tysons is quickly becoming a major ‘city,’ and cities offer these kinds of resources.”

The building features a nine-level, connected parking garage and a pedestrian bridge which connects it to Tysons Galleria and adjacent office buildings; there is a Ritz Carlton hotel next to the building.

"Convene's best in class meeting space and 'room service' style building catering will enhance the tenant experience within The Corporate Office Centre at Tysons II and offers a valued and much needed amenity that will serve to benefit our entire local business community," said Mark D. Lerner, principal, Lerner Enterprises, who worked with Convene to sign the lease deal.

"Convene at Tysons Corner" will be the company's fifth conference center since its founding in 2009 and its first development outside of New York.

"This transaction marks the first step in establishing a national footprint for Convene in key business markets around the country," said Ryan Simonetti, Convene principal and co-founder.
