Could 'Pop-Up' Development Be Coming to Tysons?

When the Silver Line opens in Tysons (soon), passengers may arrive at the Greensboro Station at the intersection of route 7 and 123 surrounded by asphalt.

One developer hopes to change that experience with “pop up developments,” the Washington Post reports. The space near the metro could house a courtyard of shipping containers (think of the Fairgrounds at National’s Stadium) with specialty retail, office space, or a park.

The aim is to draw in commuters getting off of the line and make the commute more enjoyable, the newspaper reports.

The plan would have to be approved by Fairfax County officials. It has the support of Sharon Bulova, chairwoman of the county’s Board of Supervisors, so far.
