White Christmas? Weather Forecast for Christmas Day in Northern Virginia

Area could see "snow showers" Christmas Eve.

While there are no chances of a white Christmas this year in Northern Virginia, according to forecasters, we will at least see colder, wintry temperatures by then.

Christmas Day on Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high of 35 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

On Tuesday, the warm balmy temperatures from the past few days are gone, with temperatures reaching a high of just 39 degrees. Northern Virginia has a chance of snow showers Tuesday afternoon, a 40 percent chance, after 3 p.m. Forecasters say any snow that falls will not stick.

The weather on Thursday and Friday is expected to be sunny and chilly with highs in the 30s and 40s.
